At Pawfect Family, our approach is built on trust, patience
and compassionate care. We understand that every pet is unique, which is why we take the time to learn their personality, preferences and individual needs.
The earlier, the better. Puppies can begin learning basic commands and house rules from as early as 8 weeks of age. However, older dogs can successfully learn new skills and behaviors at any stage of life.
Consistency matters more than duration. Short training sessions of 5–15 minutes, repeated throughout the day, are often more effective than a single long session.
Essential commands include:
No. Treats are a valuable training tool used to reward desired behaviors and help dogs learn new skills. As training progresses, treats can gradually be replaced with praise, playtime, affection, and other real-life rewards.
Teach loose-leash walking by stopping or changing direction whenever the leash becomes tight. Reward your dog when they walk calmly beside you with a loose leash.
Use the 5-second rule. Place the back of your hand on the pavement for 5 seconds. If it feels too hot to keep your hand there comfortably, it is too hot for your dog’s paws as well.
It is recommended to wait at least one hour after a meal before exercising your dog. Walking or vigorous activity immediately after eating may increase the risk of digestive issues, including bloat.
Begin the walk when your dog is calm. Use a properly fitted collar or harness, ensure identification tags are attached, and always carry waste bags and water when needed.
A standard flat collar, martingale collar, or front-clip harness can be effective for most dogs. The best option is one that fits comfortably and allows safe control without causing discomfort.
Dogs that bark, lunge, or react strongly to people, dogs, or other triggers benefit from confidence-building exercises and positive reinforcement. Working with a qualified trainer can help address these behaviors safely and effectively.
No. Modern training methods focus on positive reinforcement. Harsh corrections, yelling, or punishment can create fear and anxiety, while reward-based training encourages lasting, positive behavioral change.
Most dogs benefit from at least one to two walks per day, depending on their age, breed, energy level, and health condition. Regular walks support both physical fitness and mental stimulation.
